Ode to Adam Smith

O dark machine of capital,
conceived by Scots and Jews,
what you demand, I must provide;
no wise man could refuse.

For your laws are writ in stone;
the very laws of earth.
Thus I accept that I must be
a wage-slave from my birth.

You keep me clean and feed me well
and all that you demand
is every final part of me
from soul to busy hands.

You need to write an Ode to William Cobbett too!
