I think I made it there once... though I may be thinking of another place. Was it a long tough hike from Cades Cove? About three and half hours up and only two back down? Been a long time since I hiked in the smokies.
No, this is only 1.7 miles in from Clingman's Dome Parking area...a little steep and rocky at first, and then, smooth sailing.
You have to go the second week in June to see them at their peak.
