And should one consider that perhaps Didymus the Blind had it right - Philo Christianus - that "wandering" (or is it "wondering"), Alexandrian Jew?
The duality that is man in conflict... with self (and philosophy), with God, with nature or with fellow man - so much for the thinking man and mental meandering.
As for me, I'll go with a unified concept of faith in a triune God and variations on my family's creed:
"Without God without anything, God is enough" or "With God as Leader and a Sword as a Comrad" and then the one from that atheistic side of the clan "Virtute duce comite fortuna" trans. "Under the guidance of valor, accompanied by good fortune" ...
(for me, I only gamble in God's pool hall, where "fortune" favors the house, and in effect, my own mansion in the sky - as they say, luck favors the well-prepared - and with these mortal thoughts and hands I shape stones that together fitted become my eternal home in Kingdom come).
